So i'm heading back to Cali on wednesday, i've packed my wizz fizz, since they don't get it over there and my friends have never tried the glory that is wizz fizz sherbet.... Oh just on a side note, we ended up spending most of the fittings day with Toni Maticevski and although most designer's these days are pretty friendly he was just beyond nice!! He not only helped us dress models in his designs but also other designers clothes, whilst also fanning us because it was so hot! Such a nice genuine guy!! and his designs were absolutely gorgeous!

For Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival this year i was lucky enough to be chosen as a head dresser's assistant. Our team worked on the Alex Perry Red Carpet Runway as well as LPR 5 - Harper's Bazaar show and LPR 7 - the Cosmo show. I had an awesome week and although it was tiring it was really cool to see and be a part of all the work that goes behind each event, from start to finish.

Alex Perry's show was different in that it was the only stand alone show for a designer in this year's festival, it also marked the runway return of Megan Gale, who looked beautiful in both of Alex's designs for her! It was a really fun show to work on!

So i did work experience at Cosmo a few weeks back and it was really interesting, i did a pretty good mix of different sorts of jobs: researching stories, writing runners, typing old stories, cleaning the beauty cupboard, coffee runs and photocopying of course, and returning/picking up things for the fashion girls. While i didn't learn anything completely ground breaking it was great to see behind the scenes of one of my favourite magazines. I also got to be in their wardrobe workbook shoot which was really fun, i was wearing a great Maurie and Eve jacket and a fuschia dress and given the task of effortlessly flipping my hair to the side..while smiling and looking down at the camera... eventually the photographer had his assistant step in to flick my hair back and forth for me.. now to wait until the april issue to see if they print a nice photo of me.. fingers crossed! also crossing my fingers that the footage the ParkStTV crew took of me in the makeup chair pre makeup sees the cutting room floor pretty quick smart....please? Filming post hair/makeup would be excellent to see on Arena though, have to say!

I was also lucky enough to help out with the fashion shoot after ours finished. The model was Marnee Kidd, a Dolly Magazine favourite doing her first shoot for Cosmo! She was really nice and the whole crew were pretty fun, between snack runs for chocolate, lollies and reeses' and trying to find the sesame st version of whip my hair everyone was in a pretty good mood, they got some great shots of Marnee and some of the outfits were absolute perfection.. I have my eye on a little piece from Bec and Bridge when it hits stores!

So I'm home from my exchange to America and an awesome new years eve at Falls. Now in recovery mode. I had intended to blog a lot more while in America but i was so busy and having such a great time that it would have been a shame to be sitting at a computer instead of meeting amazing new people and experiencing all the beautiful places.

It's a new year and i'm pretty damn excited for what 2011 will bring. My 2010 was awesome but i can't wait for all the fun things that are happening for me in 2011. First off i have two weeks ofa work experience, one at Cosmopolitan magazine and the other with Cleo. Then i'm heading back to Cali to visit my sisters there for a month which should be rad. I also finish uni this year which is pretty exciting because i feel like i'm ready for the next part of my life.

I hope everyone had an excellent new years and has an even more fantastic 2011. My resolutions for this year (apart from the standard - eat better, exercize more, be a better person etc) are to blog more, get as much work experience as possible and to not sweat the little stuff and enjoy the good times more... after all haters gonna hate...

I'll be doing a bit of a wardrobe spring (summer) clean in the next few days and probably take some photos of the finished product and some of my new purchases from the US!

So i've been MIA once again, but like some smart chick once said, better to be living life than writing about it.

So i joined a sorority over here, and it's been so fun! all the girls are great, i'm so happy!

Went to LA for a Klaxons concert last weekend and got invited to hang with the band after which was pretty cool. Also met the guys from wolf gang who were all really fun.. we were swing dancing and drinking and making forts till sunrise, just the recipe for a pretty amazing night if you ask me.

MSFW shift three: RMIT Dangerous Goods

Saturday night i worked backstage on The RMIT dangerous goods show. The design were so interesting and many of them really innovative! So much attention to detail meant the spec sheets were covered with complicated instructions on how each piece should be worn making dressing a little bit trickier. My model was Emily G and some of her outfits are posted below. My favourite outfit of hers was the first one in the first show which i haven't found a picture of but will be sure to post if i do.

The look below, with the light up snake was a part of a collection which seemed very avatar inspired, using coloured bauble and lights, which i'm sure would have looked amazing, under the lights of the runway.

I also really liked these pieces using silk and the blue neoprene outfits.

If you took away the tube part the bodysuit underneath was a little bit awesome.

i actually came across this blog doing a simple google search on ombre hair and her diy tutorial (which you can watch below) came up. I'm so happy it did because she is awesome, if you watch her vids you can see she seems really nice.

Reasons Lily is my new girl crush:

1. i love her style, she mixes high and low fashion/prints and volumes excellently and her style is completely accessible for the average girl. Most of the things she wears seem to be ASOS, New look and Topshop.

2. love her makeup, it's pretty, natural and glowing, absolutely the way i aim to look, she also does a perfect winged eye, daily.

3. love her voice, its kinda soothing and very warm.

4. love that she has, in the last year, lost 20lbs (9kgs) by eating healthily and going to the gym, something to be proud of!

5. she's just fucking gorgeous to be honest.

MSFW shift two: Designer Series 4.

Designer series two included above, ALPHA60, Carly Hunter, Claude by Claude Maus, FAT, Jack London, Limedrop, Tesla and Trimapee. There were less changes for this show than Thursday night (3 compared to 8) and the outfits were a bit easier to put on. The only tricky one being the first outfit by above which was a shortie jumpsuit which was really baggy but had this tie bit that had to be twisted at the front and then wrapped around her waist and tied at the back. My model Mallory was super nice and just about to go to New York for campaign season - so good luck to her :)

MSFW shift one: Designer Series 3.

So tonight i had my first shift dressing for MSFW. The Designers were Life With Bird, Nevenka, Nicolangela, Bettina Liano, Gorman, Alice Mcall, Arabella Ramsay, Obus, Wayne Cooper. The stylist was the lovely and super talented Kate Gaskin. My model was Aimee Hurst (one of the twins who won the 2007 girlfriend model comp) she had a couple of really nice outfits, will try and update as they appear on the internet. But unfortunately in the second show she got a major leg cramp and had to sit out for two outfits. So there i was rubbing her leg as she waited to walk out onto the runway. But she was a trooper and finished the show well :)

So i went to a Wild West themed cocktail night last week, as an indian. I made my dress out of some taupe material and some metallic and fringed trim. So the first time i sewed it may have been skin tight around my butt and thighs, had to add some material to the sides so i could walk and dance in it, oops! Added a diva plaited suede hair wrap with peacock feather detail and some fringing tied round my wrists and i was set. There were a couple other indians there and the indian chief - my friend darby - named me blazing fire and gave me an axe to cause some trouble with as well as a feather as a 'rite of passage' haha. Such a fun night! am planning to make a neutral coloured maxi skirt with the excess material..
